I'll admit it, I may have been an Xbox fanboy in a past life. I was all gung-ho about the 360 and gaming on Xbox. Then the announcement of the Xbox one would forever change my entertainment center.
My earliest gaming memories start on the Super Nintendo and the NES, but that's not the story I want to delve into. I never really "chose a side" if you will until the release of the Xbox 360. Without hesitation I made my purchase and never gave much thought to the PS3, simply because I did not want what they (Sony) were offering. Whether it be that awful boomerang controller (which they luckily got rid of) or the 599.99 U.S. dollar price point, I did not want anything to do with Playstation. After an amazing launch day alone Ubisoft announced today that its new open-world IP, Watch Dogs, sold more than 4 million units during its first week. Sales at that level make Watch Dogs the "best-selling new IP at launch across the video game industry." Not only that, but Ubisoft says Watch Dogs is now its best-selling game of all time in terms of first-week sales. Ubisoft will be keeping a close eye on sales over the next few weeks. Watch Dogs must still sell 2 million more copies to surpass Assassins Creed in sales, which looks more than likely. If Watch Dogs does sell that well, we could be looking at the next annually released game to be published by Ubisoft.
